Something about me...

I am an Enterprise Architect and Technology for Corrections Expert,  working as a consultant in the area of innovation and technology strategy for prisons and probation services. I am also active as a researcher, affiliated to the Montfort University (Leicester, UK) and as board member of the International Prisons and Corrections Association (ICPA) I am the liaison for the technology solutions network within the association.
Until 2015 I was the IT Director of the Directorate General Penitentiary Institutions in Belgium where I managed an IT service with a strong focus on developing innovative solutions as an answer to the wide variety of business needs within the complex penitentiary context. Prior to that position, I worked in the Justice department in various business and technical functions.
Since 2008 I have been actively involved in different European and international projects, promoting the opportunities to use technology in a way it improves security, efficiency and rehabilitation in a balanced way. It is my conviction that national and international collaboration as a very important driver to further enhance this digital reformative agenda.
Convinced of the value of evidence-based practices, I am actively promoting more research in this field and work closely together with practitioners and Universities across the globe to enhance our knowledge on the opportunities as well as the risks related to the use of technology in corrections.
